Rental Terms and conditions

General Terms

Supplier reserves the right to refuse or cancel booking at any time if you do not meet renting requirements.

Please ensure that there are sufficient funds available at your debit or credit card.

A valid driving license and passport must be held from all drivers.

If your license was issued outside the country of collection, you must also bring your passport with you when collecting the vehicle. All additional drivers must meet the same license requirements as the main driver. The first driver is included in the rates but there is a daily charge for each additional driver.

The vehicle is covered by roadside assistance for any mechanical faults. If the call out is due to driver negligence, for example lost keys or running out of fuel, the renter may be charged a breakdown call out fee.

NO SHOW - A failure to collect vehicle prior to your reserved pick-up time and date, might incur at minimum a no-show fee.

Vehicle must be returned at or before the expiry of the term of hire and should be returned in the same condition as when rented, normal wear and tear excepted.

You may be required to pay local tolls or highway fees, depending on where you intend to drive.

Smoking is not permitted in the vehicle.

Security bond

The supplier requires a security bond when you collect the vehicle.

The security deposit/bond is deducted from your credit card.

Cash deposits are not accepted.

Restricted roads / areas of use

There are certain roads and areas that you cannot drive this vehicle on. Any unpaved roads or off-road driving is prohibited. You will not be insured if you drive on these roads and therefore you will be fully liable for any damage that might occur. Please see the supplier’s terms for details of restricted areas.

Optional items / extras

Special equipment and optional extras may be requested at time of booking but are subject to availability and change without notice.

Traffic infringements

It is your responsibility to cover the cost of any traffic infringements, such as speeding or parking fines or toll evasion, incurred during the rental period. The supplier will charge you a fee to administer any fines.

For car categories MINI, ECONOMY the minimum driver age is 21 years old, a valid driving license must have been held for a minimum of 1 year. For car categories LUXURY, MINI VANS and SUVs the minimum driver age is 23 years old, a valid driving license must have been held for a minimum of 3 year.

A young driver surcharge of $ 25.00 per day applies to young drivers aged under 25 with a maximum total charge $ 250.00.

For all categories the maximum rental age is 75 years old.

A senior driver surcharge of $ 25.00 per day applies to senior drivers aged 71-75 with a maximum total charge $ 250.00

Mileage policy*

Rates include unlimited mileage. *To ensure the quality of our vehicles and services Otoq has implemented a fair usage policy on all unlimited mileage products. Otoq reserves the right to take any necessary action or implement penalties if in Otoq opinion, a customer’s usage is deemed excessive/abusive.

Fuel policy

Like for Like Policy: Your vehicle will be supplied with an certain amount of fuel.

You will be required to return the car with the same level of fuel that you received the car with. If vehicle is not returned with the same amount of fuel, the supplier will charge you any missing fuel plus a refueling fee of 25.00 $.

One-way rentals

One-way rentals are not permitted.

Driver license rules

All drivers must carry a valid full license from their country of residence. Driving license printed with non-Latin Alphabet (Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Cyrillic etc.) must be complemented by an International Driving License or official translation.

License must be valid for the entire rental period.

The license must have been held for a minimum of 1 year.

Further proof of driver identity and address is required, please see full conditions for list of acceptable forms of identification.

If you experience any delays, you must contact the office immediately prior to your reserved pick-up time. After a waiting period of one hour from the scheduled pickup time, your booking will be automatically canceled. If there is an available option at that time, we will do our best to provide it to you. Please contact us as soon as possible if you anticipate being late to avoid cancellation and potential inconvenience.

You will not receive a refund if you return the vehicle earlier, reduce the number of days on your confirmed reservation or downgrade the vehicle type from the category booked.

Service outside normal business hours

Out-of-hours service is available for a $ 50 fee per pickup, drop-off, or both.

FULL TERMS

Additional Driver

Additional drivers must meet all renter requirements. Additional drivers can be added to the contract at any rental branch. The daily surcharge per additional driver is 10.00 $ with a maximum total charge of 100 $.

The maximum number of additional drivers permitted is 2.

Late Return

After 60 minutes of the vehicle’s agreed return time, a full-day rate is charged plus the late return fee of $ 25.00.

Age Requirements

The minimum age to rent is 21 for categories MINI, ECONOMY, COMPACT and INTERMEDIATE. For all other categories minimum age to rent is 23 yrs.

Cross Border Policy

Cross Border is not allowed .

Damage Waiver

Covers the renter’s liability for damages to the rented vehicle - under the condition that the damage is not due to infringement of Road Circulation Code, with a deductible amount of:

  • 1200 $ for car groups MINI,
  • 1500 $ for car groups ECONOMY, COMPACT
  • 2200 $ for car groups , COMPACT STATION VAGONS
  • 2000 $ for car groups MINI SUV, SUV manuals
  • 2700 $ for car groups SUV automatics
  • 2250 $ for car groups MINI VANS,VANS
  • 2700 $ for car groups PREMIUM

Collision Damage Waiver (CDW)  does not provide any coverage concerning damages provoked at the underside part of the vehicle, inside part of the vehicle-saloon, wind shields, mirrors, car key damage, the antenna, incorrect fuel, during transportation by ferry without prior written authorization by Otoq at the time of pick up the car, acts of God, Terrorist Attacks, wheels and tires. If CDW is not included to the Rental Agreement, the renter is liable to pay the total amount of the damages of the rented car. The Accident Statement should always be supplemented so that the insurances covers will be in effect. If there is a third party involved to an incident, we recommend clients to call the police authorities to the incident. In case of car damage or a car theft, an administration fee (D.A.F.) of $ 40,00 and Airport Fee will be charged to the driver.

Collision Damage Waiver does not cover: tire punctures, wheel damage, interior damage, chipped or cracked windshield, wrong fuel, undercarriage damage, damage to lights or lenses, mechanical damage, damage from dangerous substances Collision Damage Waiver will be voided if damage is caused by: driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, unauthorized drivers, racing or speed contest or competition, unlicensed driver or driver training, driving over state or international borders in violation of the Rental Agreement, towing or pushing, intentional damage, simple negligence, gross negligence or recklessness, driving off of a regularly maintained roadway, using the vehicle for hire, driving in violation of local traffic laws, failure to secure the car keys, or failure to lock or secure the vehicle.

No matter which insurance package the customers purchases, in case of vehicle damage the police report is mandatory.

Delivery and Collection

Delivery and collection is an on-request service. Please send your request prior to your arrival to bookings@otoq.rent prior to your arrival. For deliveries and collections within a 15 kilometers radius there is no extra charge during office working hours. For distances longer than 15 kilometers an additional charge per kilometer of $ 0.80 including airport fee applies.

Inclusive Policy

TOTAL RENTAL CHARGES INCLUDE UNLIMITED MILEAGE, COLLISION DAMAGE WAIVER CDW, THEFT PROTECTION TP, SUPPLEMENTARY LIABILITY PROTECTION IS THIRD PARTY LIABILITY, AIRPORT FEE AND VAT. ADDITIONAL PROTECTION PRODUCTS MAY BE PURCHASED. ALL EXTRA SPECIAL EQUIPMENT AND PROTECTION PRODUCTS NOT INCLUDED IN THE PACKAGE ARE SUBJECT TO AIRPORT FEE AND VAT.

Forms of Payment

Renter must use a payment card (credit or debit) at the time of rental in his or her own name.  

The following cards are accepted forms of payment:

Visa (Credit - Debit cards).

MasterCard (Credit - Debit cards).

*Important Note: For the security deposit, only Mastercard or Visa credit cards issued in the main driver's name are accepted. Debit cards are not accepted.

CREDIT CARD HOLD:

OtoQ will preauthorize an amount from the driver's credit card as a deposit for guarantee equal to the amount of the insurance waiver. The amount of the deposit varies according to the car group and will be fully refunded at the end of the rental, provided no other charges arise. An additional amount up to 150,00$ may be preauthorized for possible petrol loss. This amount will be refunded at the end of rental is no petrol loss is proven. Please note that the refund can take up to 30 days, depending on the issuing bank of the credit card.

The deposit amount must be taken on a valid credit card. Please enquire at the local branch for details. All cards presented must be in the renters’ name. 

The deposit that will be blocked on the card will be released by the cardholder’s bank, upon its notification after vehicle return.

Required deposit amount per car category:

  • 1200 $ for car groups MINI,
  • 1500 $ for car groups ECONOMY, COMPACT
  • 2200 $ for car groups , COMPACT STATION VAGONS
  • 2000 $ for car groups MINI SUV, SUV manuals
  • 2700 $ for car groups SUN automatics
  • 2250 $ for car groups MINI VANS, VANS
  • 2700 $ for car groups PREMIUM

Roadside Protection

Roadside Assistance- Free of charge and available 24/7. Contact phone number of the road assistance indicated to the signed Rental Agreement. and/or provided by the rental agent at the time of pickup the car. It is recommended to contact the branch directly in the event of required roadside assistance. In case the driver drives the vehicle off the official road network and the vehicle immobilized, the driver will be charged the cost of towing the vehicle from the roadside assistance. In instances of driver negligence, such as failure to turn off vehicle lights or damage to the key, the driver shall be responsible for the cost of towing incurred by roadside assistance.

Renter Requirements

Driver’s License: The driving license of the driver must be issued at least 12months prior to rental.

OtoQ can accept a National Driving License if the driver holds a valid driving license from: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Holland, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland & United Kingdom.

Otoq can accept a National Driving License but with Latin Characters if the driver holds a valid driving license from: Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bahamas, Bahrain, Belarus, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Brazil, Central African Republic, Chile, Congo, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, North Macedonia, Georgia, Ghana, Guyana, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Ivory Coast, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Liberia, Mexico, Moldova, Monaco, Mongolia, Montenegro, Morocco, Nigeria, Northern Ireland, Norway, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, Qatar, Russia, San Marino, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Serbia, Seychelles, South Africa, South Korea, Tajikistan, Thailand, Tunisia, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, Uruguay, Uzbekistan, Venezuela, Vietnam & Zimbabwe.

OtoQ can accept an International Driving License (driver’s valid national driving license must accompany the International Driving license at all times) if the driver holds a valid driving license from: Australia, Canada, Japan, North Korea, United States etc.

OtoQ can accept a National Driving License if the driver holds a valid driving license from China as long as an English translation form is provided.

All drivers must present a full valid driving license and a valid identity card or passport. All drivers must have held their full license for a minimum of 1 year. Renters carrying a driving license from an EU member state or Switzerland do not require an International Driving Permit. For all other countries a valid International Driving Permit is required along with the national driving license. Renters are advised to check whether local authorities require foreign drivers to present an International Driving Permit to avoid the risk of potential fines. Renters with licenses from countries who are not part of the International Driving Permit Agreement should carry a certified translation. Please note that we reserve the right to request additional ID or conduct further identification checks if which needed may include an identity check with an external organization. Upon the United Kingdom leaving the European Union (EU) the requirements for UK Driving license holders driving in EU member states may change. Please check requirements before travelling. Government advice may be found at: https://www.gov.uk/driving-abroad/international-driving-permit .

Vehicles returned with stained interior or extremely dirty exterior that cannot be cleaned with normal / common washing, client’s will be charged for minimum $ 30 to 150 for the biological cleaning of the car.

Supplemental Liability Protection

SLP SUPPLEMENTARY LIABILITY PROTECTION (THIRD PARTY LIABILITY) SLP Third Party Liability is included in the rate and covers each person for the amount of up to $ 2,200,000 for bodily injury and/or death to third parties as well as up to $ 2,000,000 for third party property damage.

Theft Protection

THEFT WAIVER (TW): Covers the rented vehicle against total theft with a deductible amount of:

  • 1200 $ for car groups MINI,
  • 1500 $ for car groups ECONOMY, COMPACT
  • 2200 $ for car groups , COMPACT STATION VAGONS
  • 2000 $ for car groups MINI SUV, SUV manuals
  • 2700 $ for car groups SUV automatics
  • 2250 $ for car groups MINI VANS,VANS
  • 2700 $ for car groups PREMIUM

Attempted theft of the vehicle, car key loss, theft of the personal belongings that were in the vehicle, acts of God and Terrorist Attacks are not covered by any insurance. The car key and the Police Document for the theft vehicle that reported by the driver of the car, should always be presented so that the insurances’ covers will be in effect. If TW is not including to the Rental Agreement, the renter is liable to pay the value of the rented car.

PLEASE NOTE:

Cancellations may be made up to 48 hours before the reserved start date/time.

If a reservation is not cancelled at least 48 hours in advance of the reserved start date/ time it will be treated as a no-show and a no-show fee maybe applied, subject to any agreed exceptions. Where the no-show is a direct result of the coronavirus a full refund will be provided.

Refunds must be equal to the full price paid by the renter, EHI reserves the right to audit these transactions for compliance.

Terms of booking on this website

The following terms relate to the booking service provided to you by OtoQ. The booking service includes the OtoQ, the software associated with the site and the facility to enter transactions with certain parties whose content appears on the site. You agree to these terms with us in respect of the booking service.

Information disclaimer

The rates on this website are often heavily discounted. This is due to our negotiated rates and bulk buying power. On very rare occasions, a rate may be displayed incorrectly due to our, or a Third-Party Provider's error. In such a case, if you book with us at a quoted rate that is incorrect, we will notify you of any price change and give you the option to proceed or cancel. We make every effort to keep information on our site up to date, but we cannot guarantee this website is free of errors or omissions and retain the right to update or change the information published at any time.

Liability

To the extent permitted by law we/the owners of this website will not be liable to you or to any third party (whether in contract, tort, or otherwise) for any direct, indirect or consequential loss or damage or for any accident, injury, delay or loss of enjoyment arising out of your reliance upon information contained on this website, including but not limited to your use (or inability to use) any products or services described or procured through this website.

Booking information

To make a booking you must complete our booking form which is easy to follow and secured with the latest encryption technology. Once we receive your form, we will confirm your booking email you a confirmation voucher and invoice. The deposit required to secure your vehicle (as shown on the secure booking page) will only be processed on your credit card when your booking is confirmed. Please note that a 2% credit card or debit card surcharge can be added when your payment is processed.

A booking is confirmed when you have been emailed a confirmation voucher and at this stage the deposit is processed on your card and becomes non-refundable and any cancellation fees stated in the terms apply. Upon receipt of your confirmation, please check your details carefully and notify us immediately if there are any incorrect details, as it may not be possible to make changes later.

If you are booking via phone, please make sure you have read the terms and conditions of the vehicle you wish to rent first. Our reservations consultant will ask you if you have read the terms and agree to them before proceeding. The onus is always on the renter to ensure they make themselves fully aware of the terms displayed on our website.

Information disclosure

In booking on this website, you acknowledge that we disclose you’re in order to provide the requested rental services to you.

Amendments

Please note that an amendment can be treated as a new booking and new rate can be applied at the time the amendment is made to recalculate the entire booking amount (not just the days changed). If the rental period is increased, an additional deposit may be required. If the rental period is shortened which results in a reduction of the rental charges, the deposit amount will remain unchanged, and the difference between the original and revised deposit is forfeited (it cannot be used towards remaining rental charges). To request a change to a confirmed booking, please use the alterations request link on your confirmation. Any alterations are subject to availability and the approval of OtoQ. In addition to the alteration policy of OtoQ as stated in our terms, the following charges will apply in respect of our booking service relating to that amendment: Rental alterations (all charges stated in local currency): $ 25.00. The alteration fee will not be charged if your alteration request is not possible.

Vehicle Capacity and fitness to drive

Under no circumstances are you permitted to carry more passengers than the vehicle you rent is legally registered to carry, and if you do your insurance may be invalidated. The number of seatbelts (and passengers) is indicated next to each vehicle on this website. Luggage capacity where shown is an indication only and we will not be responsible should you be unable to fit your entire luggage into a vehicle. It is your responsibility to choose a journey that is within your capabilities. OtoQ can refuse to rent a vehicle to any person who is in their opinion unfit to drive or does not meet eligibility requirements.

Refund and Cancellation Policy

We are committed to providing a quality service and aim for complete customer satisfaction. In the event of cancellation, any refunds, credits, or cancellation charges that apply are detailed in the terms and conditions. In the event you are unsatisfied with our booking service, please contact us within 48 hours of placing your booking or request and we will work to resolve any issues and determine if compensation is due. In the event you have completed your rental and are unhappy with your vehicle, we are happy to assist you. Sometimes a booking may need to be cancelled because of circumstances beyond either party's control. For example, a weather event, public health event (including epidemic / pandemic), medical emergencies, strike, terrorist act, governmental, regional or local authority restrictions (such as restrictions on movement due to the COVID-19 pandemic) or a change in law). If this occurs, your entitlement to a credit or refund will be as provided in our terms and conditions.

You agree that you will raise and resolve any dispute over refunds or cancellations in respect of your booking (whether initiated by you, OtoQ or by circumstances beyond the reasonable control of either party, including as a result of government travel restrictions, the COVID 19 pandemic.

Once you have made payment for your booking, you must not seek to reverse or cancel such payment through your card issuer or its agents without our prior consent.

We shall only be liable to provide a refund to you (whether that cancellation is initiated by you, due to circumstances beyond the reasonable control of either party, including as a result of government travel restrictions and the COVID 19 pandemic. Where a refund is applicable, the turnaround time from the date of your request for refund to the date you are provided with your refund may take up to 12 weeks. This is beyond our control.
